Tirzepatide −20.2% versus semaglutide −13.7%, and waist circumference −18.4 cm versus −13.0 cm. Because both arms ran in one trial, this evidence outranks any cross-trial comparison of STEP-1 against SURMOUNT-1.

    Limitations: Open-label rather than blinded, which can influence adherence and reported tolerability.
